Accountax is a trading division of Abbey Tax and Consultancy Services which specialises in self-employed status, IR35, agency legislation and umbrella companies. We provide compliance consultancy to contractor clients and accountants and represent tax payers against contentious HMRC disputes (including tribunal representation).

Duties and accountabilities

The sucessful candidate will be responsible for:

  • developing and maintaining client relationships to generate and grow consultancy income
  • providing highly technical advice and consultancy to clients including attending meetings at client premises
  • dealing with contentious HMRC enquiries including ADR and tribunals
  • providing direct advice, support and recommendations to management on all areas of the business
  • providing support, mentoring and training for consultants
  • assisting management in developing new products and services 
  • providing technical resource for consultants and management 
  • attending and presenting seminars, training and marketing events

Skills, knowledge and experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • strong technical abilities on core Accountax areas of IR35, status, agency legislation, CIS and umbrella
  • experience in a training and/or supervisory role 
  • the ability to use, interpret and analyse legislation and case law
  • experience of HMRC enquiries and strong knowledge of HMRC disputes process
  • stong knowledge of the tax and legal issues in the contractor and sgency marketplace 
  • employment law knowledge desirable
